RIP Jim Marshall, the Wood-Master
What can you say about Jim Marshall, other than “thanks.”
Thanks for most of the woodiest tones ever heard by human ears.
Thanks for cobbling together, and then making, the best amps ever – some of which still are.
Thanks for crushing our ears with ridiculously loud organic tone wrenched from wood and metal by human hands.
Thanks for picking up where Leo Fender left off.
Guess we also ought to be thankful that British rock and roll developed at a time when there was not globalization, no Chinese-made shite, no chance of anything other than what could be made right there and then.
I mean, can you imagine [insert your favorite Marshall-powered guit-slinger here] playing [insert your favorite tune here] through a cranked, globalized Fender Twin?!
Enough words. As a good bud of mine said, “A moment of silence would be completely inappropriate.” So here’s some classic Marshall tonality from years gone by. Enjoy, you woody tone MFs! RIP Jim!

RIP g’vnour.
30 years ago you changed my life. To this very day I only use Marshall amps on stage and in the studio. Your tones will be with me until the day I die.
I love you Guv’nor.
Thank you…
This man helped to shape history. RIP and thank you for inspiring some of the most amazing music and sounds this world has ever experienced.
